The shravan mahina is considered very Auspicious Month in Hindu Religion. Shravan Mas falls in during the month of August (According to English Calendar) that is just after the month of Asadh.

The Month of Shravan is really considered Auspicious for the Hindu Bhakts and Shiv Bhakts. Many shiv bhakts keep certain kinds of fast in order to impress Lord Shiva. It was also known as Shraavana.

It is believed that worshiping Lord Shiva during Shravan Mas makes lord Shiva happy as the Lord Vishnu enters into yoga mudra during Shravan Mahina and lord Shiva takes upon his work( as per the Sources). There was lord Shiva enters the planet and shower his blessing on the devotee.

Shravan Mahina is typical Indian word where “Shravan” is the Name of A month that falls parallel with August and the word “Mahina” means Month. It is also known as Shravan Mas.

You must be aware of the churning of ocean depicted in the Bhagavad Gita.  The churning of ocean called Samudra Manthan is one of the most discussed parts of the epic Bhagavad Gita Puran of Hindu Religion. It is believed that during Samudra Manthan Lord Shiva drank all the poison to save the earth from the deadly ill effects of the toxic venom. This incident happened during the period of the Shravan Mahina. Hence Lord Shiva got special importance for his brave work in the eyes of all the devatas (lords).

The Shravan Mahina marks its start with the end of Devuthi Ekadashi. After the end of Shravan Mahina follows Chatur Mahina.

Moreover, Every Monday of Shravan Mahina is considered very significant. During the Monday of people do not only worship lord Shiva but also worship Parvati Ji, lord Ganesha, Naag Ji, Nandi, and lord Karthik.

Significantly on this day devotees keep fast and do not consume any Rigid Food (Ann) throughout the day and survive only just on water and consume things which are customary to eat during fast.

Some of the devotees perform Dhun (worship through Music) and Do night awakening during the Monday of the month. The lord Shiva in return gifts all his devotee’s Blessing and good fortune. Lord Shiva loves the Ganga Jal (water of Holy river Ganga) and offering the Ganga Jal on Shivaling. Hence the devotees often offer Ganga Jal too.
